Postdoc opening (Deadline Dec 15th)

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (CRA; http://cra.gatech.edu) in the Georgia Institute of Technology. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with Dr. John Wise on simulations of the first stars and galaxies and their observability with JWST. The position is for two years; renewal for a third year is subject to performance. Expertise in running and analyzing cosmological simulations is highly desired, and experience in parallel code development is preferred.

The CRA is a growing group of nine faculty, specializing in theoretical topics in high-energy astrophysics, galaxy formation, cosmology, numerical relativity, and particle astrophysics. Local high-performance computing facilities include a 30,000-core cluster with GPUs and Xeon Phis. The successful candidate will also have access to the NASA and XSEDE supercomputers. Travel and research funds will be available

The appointment is expected to start on or before before September 1, 2018 and requires the completion of a PhD by that date. Complete applications include a cover letter, a CV, a list of publications, and a research statement (up to 3 pages) in a single PDF document to jwise@physics.gatech.edu no later than December 15, 2017. The email should include the names of reference letter writers. Arrange for three letters of references to be sent directly to the same address by the same deadline.
